p31 Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Hello Experts, I was wondering if I can sell anything online (self made paintings on etsy.com) in the US while I am on H1B? Does it affect my green card processing in any way? Thanks in advance
newuser21 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 I am also looking for answers on the same line. I feel being stuck on H1b that I can't pursue any of my other interest and establish myself in other areas. As far as I have heard, any income outside of H1b (other than investments) is illegal. I want to publish a book, want to try modeling, want to start my own business, do individual research and file patents. It's such a waste of time to wait for almost a decade in the long queue of GC.
JoeF Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Sorry, that's not allowed on H1. On H1, you can work ONLY for your employer.
omshiv Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 No you cannot do that...it would affect your H1b as well as GC.

In this case, what you are doing is nothing but starting your own business which is against H1.

rahul412 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 It's such a waste of time to wait for almost a decade in the long queue of GC. That's right. But no one forced you to do, we as non immigrants doesn't have all the benefits like a USC and that's fair enough.

So, you know that OP is a coder ? Why do you think everybody is a coder like you ? OP might be a investment banker, a civil engineer or anything else. BTW are you offering H1 for writing book, modeling, painting etc. I know you have a business to rent mothers but ....
