alexpeter Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Background: In 2008 my petition for H1B got approved, but I don’t have I797 H1B document with me as employer didn't shared with me. All I have is my receipt number which employer sent .USCIS site still shows as approved. Right now I am not in touch with the employer who filed for me in 2008.That employer is not responding anymore. But I came to know that approved petition can be used by any other employer within 6 years of approval i.e. before October 2014. Questions: 1. Can I get a copy of I797 document from USCIS with only receipt number? 2. If yes, how can I get it please tell me the procedure? 3. Can any employer reach USCIS to get my H1B copy? 4. Can any immigration lawyer reach USCIS to get my H1B copy? 5. If so how many days it will take to get a copy of I797? Experts please help me with your suggestions.
