J1 visa to F1 visa to H1B status?

Hello,

 

Is it possible to obtain H1B status from a F1 visa, with previous J1 visa that included the 2-year residence home requirement?

 

Please notice that I am not asking for the H1B visa, I am asking for the H1B status. I know I need a 2-year waiver to get the H1B visa.

 

If it helps, here is some extra information: I am currently in the US doing my OPT.  I held a J1 visa in the past, wich was changed to F1 when I started a new program.

If you can get the 2-year waiver and find an employer willing to provide you a job then the employer could file a cap subject H1B petition in April 2014 and upon approval you get H1B status and begin work from Oct 1st 2014.

Can you please tell me if you changed from J1 to F1 as change of status while in USA or you had to step out of USA to get your F1 stamped?
