H4 extension applied, visa ends Oct 1st

I've applied for H4 visa extension this august(Had to apply late as I was in between the projects), I've seen posts saying that the visa approval might take more than 3-4 months, but, the current visa is valid only until Oct 1st, i.e., way before my visa gets approved. What are the consequences if I stay here when my visa extension is still under process?

You can stay legally when the case is under process..but do pray hard for its approval, else you'll be Out of status the same day if God forbid gets denied.

It will take around 2.5 months to get your EOS to be approved. With that in mind even if your H4 expires by Oct 1st 2013 as long as you have applied for a EOS and waiting for a decision (with a receipt letter) you are in status in US. Do not worry.
