Got H1 Extension after book the appointment with old I-797

Hi All,

 

I am new to this forum.Can some one please help me to answer my questions?

 

My current I-797 is going to expire on 02/2014 and I have requested my emploer to file my extension under premium processing.

 

Today he said now a days everyone is getting rfe by default.I am planning to go to Inida this month end.If I book the appointment for my visa interview by using my old I-797 and if my extension got approved after booking the appointment and before the interview date, do I need to modify anything on my DS-160?In case if my extension didnt approved by that time..is there  any problem for stamping since the I-797 is valid only for few months?

 

Can someone please help me on these queries?

Yes you need to fill a new DS 160 form with new I 797 information and update the appointment with your new DS 160 number, if you get your extension before stamping, because you cannot update DS 160 once it is submitted.

 

Validity for a few months should not be a problem.
