Those who missed the boat last time will be able to file and at least part of the backlog should get cleared. partly justifies investment made by people who ported eb3->eb2. Link to comment

desigun
EB3© is Jul 2010 while EB2© is Aug 08!!! Could someone explain that rationale? A native of China would be considering EB2 to EB3 porting, i guess!!! Link to comment
Belle
EB3© is Jul 2010 while EB2© is Aug 08!!! Could someone explain that rationale? A native of China would be considering EB2 to EB3 porting, i guess!!! Interesting. I guess they found a bunch of visa numbers form EB3 quota that remained unused and moved the dates forward. Maybe the spillover for EB2 was not enough to compensate for that. Weird. Link to comment
desigun
Thanks Belle for your thought. It appears that for a chinese immigrant, it hurts to go for a more specialized position that requires advanced degree than just stay put with a job that requires minimal skills and experience. Why is it so difficult for USCIS to understand that the whole process is outdated and flawed?? Link to comment
catx
Interesting. I guess they found a bunch of visa numbers form EB3 quota that remained unused and moved the dates forward. Maybe the spillover for EB2 was not enough to compensate for that. Weird. The reason for the significant EB3-ROW movement is straightforward enough. The ~15 month movement a couple months back -- past the infamous July 2007 visa bulletin (fiasco) -- did not result in the expected number of new I-485 adjustment of status applications. This is clearly due to the intervening recession reducing the number of foreign professionals in the U.S. pursuing permanent residency. Accordingly, the cut-off date had to be moved forward (another 18 months) to generate enough demand to use the available FY2013 visa numbers. The delay in publishing the September 2013 Visa Bulletin was clearly due to the less than expected demand in different preference categories, the resulting spillover calculations, and needing to use up the visa numbers before the fiscal year ends. catx
@rahul412 thank you. I stopped following the Murthy Forum (and correspondingly posting) after too many so-called 'experts' were posting predictions and criticisms that didn't even rise to the level reasonable conjecture. They got so extreme and ridiculous it was laughable, especially considering that simple mathematics proved them wrong. Life is too short to waste on such interactions. I don't see being back much, as I my priority date is finally current with the September 2013 visa bulletin. My time and effort on immigration matters will be re-focused on my son who 'aged-out' 9 months ago. Link to comment
