H1b visa stamped for 5 years instead os standard 3 years

Hello,

Story:

In 2010, I went for H1b visa stamping with my wife (H4 visa for her) and my visa was stamped for 5 years instead of standard 3 years. I know some people take that as good thing rather then confusing but I want to be sure if there are any possible issues.

Current situation:

My H1b petition was renewed again and it's approved from 2013 to 2016 and same for my wife's H4 petition. I am planning to travel out of country in early 2014 and want to clarify few doubts.

Questions/Doubts:

1.  I am working for same employer all this time and will continue. In this scenario do I need to inform New Delhi Consulate that they stamped me visa for 5 yrs by mistake (in 2010) and I need to go for visa stamping again? ... OR I can just ignore 3/5 yrs story and enjoy my benefit until my visa is stamped (i.e. 2015)?

2.  If I travel in 2014, when my new H1b petition is approved (2013 to 2016) and visa is stamped from 2010 to 2015 (based on previous H1b petition); will I get in trouble during port of entry?

It will be helpful if I can get some advise on this.

Thank you.

S.

1. Not required

2. If you have valid Visa stamp and old and new I 797 with you then tis fine.

has your I-140 approved?

In 2010 you have gone for stamping, So which year did your actual H1 Started?

everything is based on the above questions

Hi,

Thank you for reply. Yes, I-140 is approved.

First H1-2007 to 2010... Second H1-2010 to 2013 and now third H1-2013 to 2016.

Please advise.
