(Urgent) OPT expired H1B approved; Can I travel and return on F1?

Greetings,

My H1B (new application, not transfer) got approved this month (for FY 2013). I was on OPT which has expiry date as June 17th, 2013. My school has already extended the I20 till September 30 2013 and I have a valid F1 visa till 2015.

I want to go to India on the last week of August and returning back mid week of September. Now my questions is:

1. Is it at all possible or safe to go to India having approved H1B? Will I need to get my H1B stamped before returning in September? Can't I come back on F1 visa?

 

Please answer my question on an urgent basis. Thanks.

Its not advisable to travel on cap-gap i-20 as murthy.com posted lot of times about this issue on their homepage
