H4 to F1

I came US on F1 visa for Masters. I completed that program and then converted my visa to H4.

 

Now I want to do MBA on F1 visa.

 

If I apply for F1 visa and unfortunately if it gets denial then what is my status? I am our of status or H4?

 

P.S: I can study on H4 visa but want to separate visa for safer side because of bad economy.

If your COS status gets denied you will be on H4

Actually my spouse getting to much pressure from company also passing message to drop H1b.

 

As I mention I am on H4 visa and going to apply F1 asap. Once I filed COS (H4 to F1) and spouse get H1b drop, can I stay in USA as my F1 application is pending?
