vanrags Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 My mother is coming on a green card later this month. A couple of questions regarding what do we do next. She has a IV that expires in October. Do we apply by mail for her GC or will it be automatically sent since we have provided photographs etc. She has to travel for about 2 weeks outside the country in November. Will that be a issue ?. Should she be able to get a GC by then ?. If not, can she travel on any documents she has in her possession ?. Thanks in advance for any assistance. VR
JoeF Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 She will provide her address at the POE, and the actual GC will get sent to that address automatically within a few weeks. She could also get an I-551 stamp in the passport if she wants to travel before the GC arrives. The stamp is as valid as the actual card.
pontevecchio Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 She will enter and go for secondary Inspection and be processed for the GC which should arrive quite soon.
