GAYU Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 I have been holding H4 visa since 2010, it will expire in may 2014. I have plans of doing MS this spring 2014. My husband has started green card process. Now that I'm in my native country 1. Can I change from h4 to f1 2. If yes, are there any restrictions from where I should apply for university and visa change? Please help?
GAYU Posted August 5, 2013 Author Report Posted August 5, 2013 Thank you JoeF. I would like to shift to F1 due to reasons like attending the univ internship, etc. So will I be able to get a F1 stamped? My husbands GC is going through labour processing. Waiting for your reply.
pontevecchio Posted August 5, 2013 Report Posted August 5, 2013 Then get admission first and either get the F1 Visa first and come over, or change status if you are in the USA at that time.
GAYU Posted August 6, 2013 Author Report Posted August 6, 2013 Thank you! In the case of getting the f1 visa in my home country, can you list me the documents that I need to produce at the US conslate ? I did browse websites regarding this, but I couldn't get the list of documents needed specifically when changing from h4 to f1. Do help?
pontevecchio Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 look at www.travel.state.gov under visas and then student. All requirements are mentioned along with guidance. Check out USCIS site for I-539 Instructions.
