Can a GC holder apply for Immigration for parents

Hello All,

My sister has GC (Indian Passport) for more than a year. Can she apply for immigration to US for our parents in India. Or does she have to wait until she becomes US Citizen.

Only US citizens can sponsor GCs for their parents.

This is what I thought too but a friend of mine (pakistan national) kept telling me otherwise which raised the question. Is the law for someone to be citizen before applying for parents true for all nationals or specific to Indians?

Not sure why you mentioned Pak Citizen...anyways Law is the same.

federal Law applies to all potential Immigrants.

That law is for ALL citizens. There is no special law for people from a particular country.

Only US citizens can sponsor their parents. Period.

That is all specified in INA 201.
