bsspandu
My Visa Experience (CALGARY) : Before Interview: Came to YYC airport, stayed in howard Johnson hotel (which is on the same road as embassy). As there are few people coming to Calgary, you may or may not find shared accommodation. I booked checker cab and came at 7:30 am to rocky mountain plaza (embassy). Do not get any electronics with you except watch (car keys, bags, phones are not allowed), you will be in a mess if you get. At embassy downstairs ‘security check in’ do not require removing belts. Then they will take to top floor through elevator. Again security check in. Then you will enter a room, which include 3 things 1) giving passport, I 797, dsc form 2) finger prints 3) Interview with immigration officer. You have to go to specific booth based on number displayed on board. It is little confusing but its ok. (booth A is finger print). Interview: (he looks around age, above 40) Me: good moring sir VO: nodded head All the time he is just typing something. VO: You work with xxxx right? : Yes VO: Is this your first Visa? : I attended F1 visa before, this is my first H1B visa interview VO: Are you with another company before? :Yes VO: When did you start working on H1B , approximate date is fine. :Told exact date VO: Do you work at client place? : ( I made little mess here, please do not repeat this. I am on fulltime). Me: No , For me, employer and client are the same. We develop products. I do not have any layers involved. V0: He got confused, I saw surprise expression on his face. You don’t have end client?. He himself corrected it. Ok, so you work for xxx and your employer is also the same xxx. Me: Even I was little panic and continued talking while VO officer talking (which I am not supposed to do). VO: So have you ever worked on fulltime? ( Becz.. he thought this is my first fulltime, that’s why I answered so weirdly) : I always worked as a fulltime employee. VO: Is your client treating well? :Yes, they are VO: How do they pay you? :Direct Deposit to my bank account Golden words came and he told, this is not 100% guaranteed , but mostly 99% you will get it. Unless there are any problems. I attended on Thursday, (as weekend coming soon). He asked do you want to go to your work ASAP? I told Yes. He gave a White n Red slip ( I thought he is giving pink slip 221g) , with which I can pick my passport on Friday afternoon 2pm. He took my 797 along with passport, so I am little confused becz I don’t know that they will keep my 797 too. During F1 visa we don’t have 979, so they will take just passport. I confirmed it at finger print booth. I believe they need it for PIMS verification. Came on Friday at 2pm. They told my passport is not yet came. Asked me to come at 3pm. She explained me that it is something that we can’t print, sometimes delays might happen. I got it at 3pm. Tips: Dress nice and look like a professional ( Not a cheap labor). Answer them clearly. Never ever panic, or nervous. It will make them feel suspicious. There are 3 more people attended interview with me they all got visa stamped. Again Surprise: while going back to U.S.A Calgary, Canada airport guys told that I have to do CUSTOMS at the airport departure. I filled the form and went to the officer. I am so happy and excited mood at that time (like singing songs by myself). Officer: With serious face, (beczz.. I am so casual at that time, as if I am checking a bag). What is your purpose of trip?. ::Came to h1b visa stamping at u.s embassy Calgary Officer: What did you do in u.s? :: I work for American company Officer: What did you do ? :: I am a software profession Officer : Where are you going? :told my itinerary (as I am going to PHX then connecting flight from there) Officer: Are you a student now? :: No I am done with my graduation Officer took my i-94 (student), and took finger prints, picture. Stamped on my passport. Later I realized my port of entry was done. So I answered port of entry question thinking he is a customs officer. Usually port of entry means, the first AIRPORT location that you enter in U.S . But here it works differently for CANADA. Becz Canada, u.s.a have such a good relations that it won’t bother you much. -Cheers Link to comment

bsspandu
Just wanted to let you know that , VO hadn't asked not even a single document from my folder. Not even client letter. Even i met 4 people who had their interview before they all are contractors, even they got their visa stamped with very minimal questions. Link to comment
