jprakash
I am on H1B working for an American company in USA. I have an approved I140 and my H1B Visa and Petition are valid till the end of the year, 2015. My Company wants me to go to Japan for a period of 2 years. How will this impact my H1B and GC process? Your H1 and GC is no way related to your work in Japan. Link to comment
omshiv
Should NOT impact your GC..infact after you are back to the US..you can recapture your time spent outside US and can extend your H1 for another 2 yrs without any hassle. If at all your PD gets current you can apply for CP. Link to comment
pontevecchio
In Japan the H1 status would not apply. Discuss the situation with your supervisor and/or HR and/or the Company legal team. Link to comment
redgreenbluee
please consult a lawyer. GC is for future employment, once PD is current, you can continue with the process. in the meantime, you are free to work in japan and it should not affect your petition as long as the need for the job position remains open (for you). Belle
It's not clear if you have a I-485 pending. If not, there is no impact. Link to comment
