vijji12
Thanks omshiv. I would like to know if there is any article or something which says this. There should be some way you came to know about this. Would you share that with me. All I am trying is to get to solid decision. Thanks for your response. Regards, Vijji Link to comment
jairichi
I think you need to be a German citizen or an EU citizen or on a long term schengen visa to apply for your visa at a US consulate in Germany. I am not 100% sure about this. Link to comment
vijji12
Lots of people are going to Canada , does it mean they hold Canada visa for a long time! If it works for Canada/Mexico then why not for Germany! This is what I think as logical. But then if the rule says we cannot go I would seek alternative. So first of all I would like to know if I can go or not! Then will see alternative. Attorneys or any others, your views please. Link to comment

vijji12
Hi Srikalyan, Thanks for the response. I think this question arises even if I need to get visitor visa to Germany! So what should I do. How about Mexico then! What reason can I show for it! One of the posts someone says they don't have enough leaves in their company to go to India for stamping. How does that work! Definitely Germany is a far off place compared to Canada or Mexico and I cannot use the above as response for that question. So does it mean we should plan our trip back to US once stamping is done! I would also appreciate if someone can give me a checklist of documents needed (necessary) to go for H1 stamping. Regards, Vijji Link to comment

You can try for Canada/mexico/Jamaica to visit as a reason 1 and stamping as a second reason. If not India is better as well. here is the checklist for reference http://forum.murthy.com/index.php?/topic/47718-complete-package-h1b-stamping-questions-checklist-pims-client-questions-all-in-one/ Link to comment

sthamago
Hello please advise me... Hey Guys, I have questions that I know you may have answers. I had my first H1 B visa stamp back in my home country last 2006. Since then I never went outside the US but have consistently extended my H! B visa through USCIS ( H1 B supposed to be only extended 2 X every 3 years but due to I have an approved I-140 I was allowed to extend for increment of 3 years). My question is... 1. Is it okay for me to apply for a new stamping of my H1 B extension in Vancouver, Canada? by the way I am a PR holder in Canada. 2. Or I have to go back to my home country again to have it stamp just like what I did in 2006? Your thoughs is greatly apprecaited. Thanks alot and Bless Us All!!!! 1. yes you can 2. not required Link to comment
itsmeusa
Thanks Srikalyan. Any ideas from others! I am not sure whether you could go to Canada / Mexico. (I read that) To be eligible to go there, you must have stamped your H-1B in your home country (at least once in the past). Link to comment

If Canada allows then it does not mean that other countries have to follow suit. I got my first visa stamped from France. The first document they asked me before entering US embassy and by VO was my long term visa for a schengen country or titre de sejour (French Residence Permit) that allows me stay legally and to apply in US embassy, Paris. Check with other people before you go to Germany Link to comment
