want to file ap by myself -

i just got my ead renewed for 2 yrs..i am now going to apply for my ap as well.but want to do it on my own..got a question...since i am not going for combo option here, and as i understand i wont be getting any card as such for ap approval ,if applied separately, do i still need to send those 2 passport size phots..pls advise
