rajeevakarv
Hi, I am having student visa for USA and travelling in Aug. My travel is as Delhi -> Frankfurt -> Washington DC -> Rochester My halt time at Frankfurt is 18hrs and 4 hrs at Washington DC. Will i need a transit visa for the halt? if yes, how to get it. If no, any other document needed at Frankfurt other than I am carrying for my travel to US. Thanks, RV Link to comment
omshiv
You dont need a Transit Visa if you have a Valid Unexpired Stamped Visa on your Passport...assuming you are not travelling out of the Airport. 18 hrs?? isnt that too much? Link to comment

I think you may have just answered without checking. Look at the gemany dot info website link - "http://www.germany.info/Vertretung/usa/en/05__Legal/02__Directory__Services/01__Visa/__Transit__Visa.html". It clearly says that stay at the airport for more than 12 hours will need a visitor visa (Even a valid transit visa won't suffice). Airport transit privilege does not apply and you will need a visitor visa: 1. if you have to pick up your baggage and/or have to check-in again (please verify with your airline). 2. if you are transiting through two or more airports in the Schengen Countries (for example: Miami-Frankfurt-Paris-India) 3. if you hold an open ticket 4. if your stay in the international transit area exceeds 12 hours Link to comment
