Live4GC
Hi, I am an Indian citizen born and raised in India with Indian passport. Came to USA for Masters and then started working here. Since I dont have a birth certificate from India, can i get one from the indian consulate ? As per this link, I can get one : http://www.cgisf.org/contents/view/105 But can the same be used for filing 485 ? Has anyone been succesful by submitting Birth certificate from Indian consulate ? Thanks! Link to comment

Attorney_11
One should refer to the US Department of State Visa Reciprocity Table to determine in what manner to procure required birth documents for immigration purposes depending on the country one is a citizen or national of. Generally, with respect to immigration matters, consular "birth certificates" issued by Indian Embassies and Consulates are not sufficient. Link to comment
