L1B extension and not able to travel due to medical reasons. - Urgent

Hi,

 

I am currently on L1B visa status, my visa has expired 6 months back and had my I94 valid till this month. My wife is on dependent visa (L2) and even her visa is expired and her I94 is also going to expire this month. My current company has filed I94 extension from California and i received RFE. I have submitted my response and I am waiting for the response. Current status is in "RFE response review". My wife is 30 weeks pregnant and if by chance my extension gets rejected, should i travel back immediately ? Doctor says that she traveling at this stage is high risk and she does not recommend traveling. Can i stay back in US till we have the baby delivered and then travel ? Or is there any other way to ask for some more time before i travel back.
