yes as below.

THIS IS AN AUTOMATED RESPONSE.  PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND.

You have sent an e-mail to the Visa Unit at the U.S. Consulate General in Vancouver, BC, Canada.  This e-mail inbox is for (1) individuals who are requesting an expedited visa appointment for emergency purposes; and (2) individuals who have an active visa application currently pending with us.  If your e-mail falls within either of these two categories, we will attempt to send you a substantive response within two business days.

If you have general questions about visas, immigration, customs regulations, travel and tour information, etc., please review the sources below to find the answers to these types of questions.

Canadian Citizens:  Canadian Citizens are generally visa exempted, therefore do not require visas to enter the United States.  However there are some exceptions, for more information please see:  http://canada.usembassy.gov/visas/information-for-canadians.html.

Visa/Passport Pickup:  If your visa application has been approved, and you are not subject to additional administrative processing, please expect a wait time of 7 working days before your applicant summary page on the U.S. Visa Service (CSC) Website is updated with the DHL waybill number.  All inquiries regarding the pickup/delivery status of approved visas must be directed to CSC website: http://canada.usvisa-info.com/.  The consulate will not respond to pickup/delivery inquiries. Please consult the CSC http://canada.usvisa-info.com/ using your login details.

Visa appointments in Canada: All services - including calling for information and scheduling an appointment - will be provided for no additional cost online at http://canada.usvisa-info.com/ or by calling (604) 800-2794 (calling from greater Vancouver area), (703) 439-2319 (calling from the United States), or skype call for free (skype name USVISACANADA).   If you are experiencing problems with the visa appointment provider, the U.S. Consulate is not able to assist you. Please use the "contact us" at the top right hand corner of the U.S. Visa Service Website page.

Expedited appointments: If your expedited appointment request is not granted, please log into your profile and check the availability calendar as appointments slots are added at random intervals.  While there is availability for the visa class you are applying for, expedited appointments requests will not be considered.

"Wait times" for visa appointments in Vancouver.  The State Department's international travel website, www.travel.state.gov, lists typical wait times (in calendar days) for nonimmigrant visa interview appointments at U.S. consular sections around the world.  The Vancouver visa appointment system differentiates between applicants who are currently residing in Canada and  applicants who are already in the U.S. and are seeking to renew their employment, student, or exchange visitor visas.  Our first priority is to process visa applications for individuals living in Canada, but we normally set aside a small number of appointments for U.S.-based applicants seeking to renew their visas.  The wait times listed for Vancouver on the State Department's website for the "visitor" and "student/exchange visitor" categories are for applicants currently residing in Canada.  The wait time for "all other categories" reflects the wait times for U.S.-based applicants who are seeking to renew their employment, student, or exchange visitor visas.  The wait times for U.S.-based applicants are typically longer than the wait times for Canadian residents.  Expedited appointment requests from U.S.-based applicants are almost never granted.  If you are a U.S.-based applicant who has sent us an e-mail requesting an expedited appointment, you will not receive a personal response unless your request is granted.  If you do not receive a personal response within two business days, you may assume that your request for an expedited appointment has been denied.  Please also note that U.S.-based applicants require visas only if they plan to travel outside the United States.

DS-160 questions: please visit http://travel.state.gov/visa/forms/forms_4401.html.

Petition based nonimmigrant visa applicants:  If you are writing for verification of your approved petition through the Department of State's Petition Information Management Service (PIMS) in anticipation of an upcoming appointment at the U.S. Consulate General in Vancouver, you will not receive a personal response from us.  All you need to do is ensure to include the correct I-129 petition receipt number at the time you schedule your appointment.  An original I-797 is no longer required to be presented at the time of the interview.  However, in the event of errors in the petition data information,  a copy of the  I-797 would be helpful to verify details of the petition.

Abandoning LPR and Re-Entry Permits:  Individuals who wish to abandon their legal permanent residency status OR are picking up Re-Entry Permits may personally come to the Consulate Mondays through Friday 8:00 to 12noon."

Hi mansamf

I have sent to the PIMS@state.gov and toronto embasys email id as i am going to the stamping there. I received a response from toronto embasys stating that :

"Thank you for contacting the U.S. Consulate General in Toronto.  Unfortunately, we are unable to verify your information in PIMS at this moment, as this process is not done ahead of the visa interview. We regret that our response cannot be more favorable at this time."

I hope this helps .

Dude, you can't do that verification. Only consulate officials and their staff has to do that. It's an internal process.

Then what the point of sending the PIMS verification request email though lots of people talk about sending email before a week.
