H4 to H1 Conversion duration

Hello

 

I had a H1 visa valid till april 2012. I travelled to US on a H4 visa 2 months back and have applied for a cap-exempt H1petition through my employer. My question is can I start working once I recieve the USCIS receipt number. My employer uses E-Verify to verify employment status and is the receipt number sufficient in this case?

 

Also how long will it take to recieve the receipt number under normal processing?

2. The petition was submitted on the 8th of july. Can i convert it to premium processing immediately?

1. Normal processing 3-6 months.

 

2. Yes. Ask your employer to pay premium fee.
