gav_sharma
I am currently a green card holder and would be eligible for citizenship in Feb 2017. My mother is alone in India and I would like to bring her to US permanently to stay with us. Currently she has a visitor visa which she uses to stay in US for few months in a year. I know that currently a child can apply for green card for his/her parents as an immediate relative if the child is a US citizen. But I have been reading that with the new immigration reform parents won't be allowed to apply for green cards, only spouse and child of a US citizen can apply. Is this true ? If it is, how can I bring my mom to US permanently in the post Immigration reform environment ? Link to comment
t75
The proposal does not eliminate parents. However, nothing is certain until the bill is passed. If parents are eliminated (unlikely), she would have to qualify on her own. Link to comment
