manjula.mishra Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Hi, My husband is the primary applicant for GC under EB-1B. Our I-140 is already approved. Now, we want to file our (my husband's, mine and our daughter's) I-485 together. We have collected our medical records (letters from USCIS reco. surgeon) and filled out other required forms (i-485, i-131 Advanced parole for travel, G-325a (biometric) ). Today, while searching for supporting documents for GC online, I came across a list that shows "affidavit of support". Now, I am worried if my daughter and I need that too. My husband earns around $ 100,000 p.a. We (my daughter and me) have been here for around 4 years and have our names on Tax Returns and W2 forms. My question is that: Do we still need an affidavit of support? If, yes. Which form do we need to fill? And, we can be the sponsor? Since, the primary purpose of the affidavit support is to make sure that people do not go on public assistance, can I send my degree certificates to show that I am eligible to look for an employment after I receive my GC (I think it should be 40 credit or something)? Responses are highly appreciated. Thanks and Best, Manjula
JoeF Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 For an employment-based GC, you never need affidavits of support for dependents.
