Green card application after J1 waiver

Hi, when earilest one can start applying for green card after switching to H1B from J1?

 

I am starting a J1 waiver job as physician for 3 years and my best bet for green card, I think, is via NIW-EB2.

Is there any benefit  of start applying earlier or should one wait till closer to 5 years mark?

As I am from India, I know for EB2 dates are further behind, is applying earlier will give any advantage?

One should start the process as soon as practicable. It is beneficial, especially in light of immigrant visa backlogs in the employment based category for Indian nationals, to file the case and institute the earliest possible priority date.
