gds81 Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 I graduated from the masters program on May 26, so my 60 day F-1 grace period expires on July 26 and my H-1B starts on Aug 5, which is exactly 10 days after July 26. Does that mean, I can stay in U.S. and my H-1 will automatically activate on Aug 5 obviating the need to travel outside States (at this time) to get the H-1 stamped? What would be my status for those 10 days if I choose not to travel outside US? I do not have OPT but my F-1 Visa stamp in passport does not expire till 2017. I do not come under this years quota as I was already working on H1B before joining masters program so it is a simple case of F-1 to H1 transfer but the gap between my start date of H1 and expiration of grace period is driving me nuts. I do not want to travel outside US at this time to just get my H1 stamped. Please advise.
pontevecchio Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 If your approval included an I94 you are fine specially since one is allowed to come in up to 10 days before the start date.
