Travel on L1 or H1 ?

Currently I'm in US on L1 with Company A. L1-194 valid till Sep 2015. This year I got my H1 processed through company B. The I-797 has I-94 card in it valid from Oct 1, 2013.

 

I'm planning to go out of country on vacation this November. However I'm planning to travel and come back on L1 and then join company B and start working for them.

 

Is it legal to do that? Any advice is appreciated.

Any travel after October,1 means you need a H1 visa.
