Change employers during green card process

Hi All,

 

My Current employer is in the process of initiating my green card with EB2/EB3 category. I have the following questions

1.Can someone elaborate the steps involved in the green card process. When I can switch employers in the process and how long does the process takes overall?

2. I have a Master's degree and related experience of 5 years in the field I am working, which category should I be applying in?

The category depends on the job. If you are planning to change jobs, do it now.
