Hi All,

First of all Thank you Murthy Forum and all others who helped me in this forum directly or indirectly. All your posts helped me a lot for my preparation for the trip.

I had my appointment on June 5th 2013 @ Vancouver consulate. I reached Vancouver on June 3rd and stayed in Travelodge which is near to the airport. Travelodge has a free shuttle service from airport and good connectivity to downtown (US Consulate is 2-3 mins walk from waterfront station in downtown) with every 5 mins train connected by shuttle. Travelodge has good internet and nearby restaurants and enterprise (car rental).

We reached US embassy around 8:23 AM on Wednesday and the security guard said that he cannot allow us until 8:30 as VO’s are not available. We came back at 8:35 and handed over passport and DS-160, I-797A for verification. Reached 2nd floor after security check just like airport security check and a lady at the counter gave us a token number and took our passport and DS-160, I-797A. There is a 47 inch TV in the lobby which is displaying the finger print and 20th floor token numbers. Waited around 40-50 mins for finger printing and then 20-30 minutes for 20th floor (where actual interview will be done) token number. We waited there in 20th floor for 10 mins and finally counter 6 got that lucky chance to interview me :P (I was bit tensed though)

Counter 6: White and tall American

VO: Good Morning Sir, How are you?

Me: I gave him a smile and said good, How are you officer.

VO: Do you have your master degree in US and what is your university Name?

Me: XXXX degree and XXXX University

VO: Did you transfer ever from XXXX University?

Me: No Sir

VO: Do you have a proof that you completed your masters?

Me: Yes, sir. I gave him my Master’s transcripts.

VO: He was looking into his black screen after I gave him answers and typing something, and finally said the golden words “YOUR VISA IS APPROVED”. VO gave all my papers back and also a tracking paper which contains information about passport pick up.

Me: Thank you and Have a good day.

VO: Thank you.

My roommate, who share the room with me also had visa interview on same day. It was just a 1 minute interview.

VO: Ok, your visa is approved and collect the passport in 2-3 days at loomis.

Me: Thank you very much, have a good day.

TIP: Keep a smile on your face and be confident.

There were 3 of us who had an interview on Wednesday and all of us got visa approved.

Waybill number got updated on Friday early morning 5 or 6 AM and picked up passport @ 8:30 AM on Friday and booked the return flight for evening.

Don’t forget to visit the nearby places like hanging bridge, whale show, mountain top (you can see Vancouver city view from top of the mountain), I-99N drive (drive between ocean and mountains, it’s a beautiful and awesome drive), Stanley park…..

No need for any dollars conversion as US Dollars are accepted every where.

Have a great day J

Thank you.

Rama.
