s1111 Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 I was on L1 for employer A until Oct last year. Change of Status approved to H1 for employer B in October last year. I was in a senior position with company A requiring me to sign tax documents, bank paperwork, etc and was listed as a signatory. Since, I have changed my employer, Company A has requested me to continue as a member of Board of Directors which may include signing the paperwork for the company and possible participation in decision making. I will not be involved in any day to day operations. My question is would that be outside the law or permissible, given that I do not own any part of the company and also do not draw any compensation from the company. I stopped receiving compensation from company A at the end of September. But, would like to help my previous employer out due to my good relations with them while I was employed.
t75 Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 You still need work authorization. They should have already had an attorney set this up.
