90 day wait period for parents before filing for GC?

Hi all,

I have my father visiting me here in the US (visitors visa) and I plan to file for my father's GC but I was not sure if I need to wait 90 days while he's here to start the process?

Any inputs or someone wishes to share their experience will be useful.

There are some time restrictions and you should really have a lawyer file. You should probably wait to see what happens to Health Care reform and file his GC for CP to give you more breathing room.

CP = Consular Processing. In this case, after an I-130 approval, the person who is abroad would get an invitation to the US Consulate, and would bet an immigrant visa there, which the person then uses to enter the US and become a Permanent Resident at the border.

Consular Processing. Do you actually know what Health Insurance will cost for them?
