J2 to H4 application process

Hi,

I am in the US on J2 dependant visa, husband has applied for H1. J1 expires on 30th of June.

1. Is there a grace period after J1 expiration? How long can I stay legally after J1 expires?
   
2. What application form do I have to fill for H4 visa? Can I do it online?

Dont have it in hand but expected to start from July1st.

1. I-539 form needs to be filled up and submitted before your J2 status expires. Feel free to give him a kick as the University would have been glad to deal with your COS at the same time. As long as you have a COS receipt in hand you can stay till the COS is approved.

Question

1: So that means I have to write: My application is based on separate petition of my spouse change of status application on the Form I-539 . http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD, ?

2. Do I have to describe my husband's work details and income, since I was on dependent on his visa and was staying at home as homemaker?

2. It may be wise to send his last 2-3 stubs to prove he was in status assuming he was paid.
