So here's my situation.

Currently on F1 OPT STEM

Approved for H1B for 3 years starting Oct 1st, 2013

Born in Jamaica (can claim Jamaican citizenship)

Have Indian Passport (Indian Citizenship through descent)

Never lived in India.

Grew up around the Caribbean before coming to the U.S when I was 13. Lived, studied, worked here since.

On the Canadian Consulate's website it says that Third party nationals can apply for their 1st H1B visa if they can prove that they have substantial relations with either Canada or the U.S

So what exactly is my home country? If i wanted to go visit my friends later this year in Vancouver will I have any issues?

Thanks!

The home country is generally the country where you lived before coming to the US.

See that's still bizarre because the country I came to the US from is the Bahamas, to which I have no permanent residency or citizenship status. I was there for 7 years because my dad and mom had work permits there. I can't go back to the Bahamas unless I get a visa and again what proof do I have for that being my home country - none.

It would seem that you should get Jamaican Citizenship and give up your Indian Citizenship as India does not recognize dual citizenship and your problems are sorted. You can get the visa in Jamaica.

Yea it is something I'm thinking about but also I've heard that there are no more visa operations in Jamaica and they've closed the office and moved operations to Dominican Republic or something?
