L1 to H1

I have been in USA on L1 visa for 5 years until 30-Apr-2012. Then I came back to India. In the same year in 2012 my company filed the extension of 6th year(maximum period of continous stay in USA) under H1B visa category. I got H1B approval for Oct-1, 2012 till June 20 - 2013. But since 30-Apr-2012, after my L1 VISA got completed, I am in India. I haven't used my H1B yet.

Now if I plan to go to US,can I get the H1B approval(Oct-1, 2012 - June 20, 2013) renewed with new dates for 1 year

Also, Since I am in India with a break of 1 year, can I file for a fresh H1B VISA in Apr 2014 if I happen to be able to use this current H1B visa(one mentioned above after renewal) and residing in US.

Please let me know the best possible option to choose from.
