harishp100 Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 Hi I got my H1B visa approved on May 2nd 2013 but I have my OPT valid till the end of the year. My question is whether will I able to work for another employer within next few months or should I have to wait till October 1st for my H1 to start..
ashukla Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 based on assumption that you H1B start date is October 1st..... till that time you can work on your OPT status and after that your approved H1 will be in effect. regarding to change the employer you have to file for a H1 Transfer and this has to be approved prior to your H1 Start date.....you can work for a new employer till your OPT has validity (i.e Oct 1)

OP was comparing OPT to H1 and he wants to work for employer who sponsored his H1, so obviously it will be related to this field of study.
