Digital Photo upload for Canada TRV

Hi I am trying to understand what size of the photo needs to be uploaded online for digital image

Following are specifications given in CIC.

Spec 1: The frame size must be at least 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8″ x 1 3/4″).

Spec 2: The photographs must show the full front view of the head, with the face in the middle of the photograph, and include the top of the shoulders.

Spec 3: The size of the head, from chin to crown, must be between 31 mm (1 1/4″) and 36 mm (1 7/16″).

My friend took a picture with a phone and I am trying to crop and fit these measurements. There are couple of online websites which I am using to get it done.

Spec 1: After the cropping the picture and when I go to it's properties, I see that width and height is 411 X 531 pixels. Does it mean that I have satisfied the 1 st condition 35 x 45 mm?

Spec 2: After the cropping I can barely see the shoulders, is that a concern?

Spec 3: I tried so many times but if I have to satisfy this Spec then my shoulders are not visible. I only see my face in the picture. (does this need to be accurate?) I do not understand how we make the chin to crown must be between 31 mm and 36 mm? When i measured mine was 40 mm maybe. So I want to find out does this need to be accurate?

If anyone has done uploading the digital image can you please let us know how you did it? Is Canada TRV processing so particular about these specifications?

Hi iham,

I applied last month TRV online. I did try modifying the pic online by myself but I could not. So I went to Walgreen's and asked them to take a pic for Australia Passport Photo as they have similar photo specs like CANADA TRV photo specs. I got that pic in CD as digital image and uploaded that pic .

you can re size the picture by 'saving as ' in 'paint' tool. Hope it will help you.
