Question about H1B stamping in Montreal?

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I am planning to go to Canada to get my H1B stamping.

I have couple of questions:

1. After the interview, is the passport mailed back to us (do they take our local address)

or do we have to pick it up from the Consulate? I had done my visa stamping in

Tijuana (Mexico) couple of years back, where I just picked up my passport from the Consulate itself.

If everything in the interview goes well, I am planning to travel around Canada immediately after the

visa interview, so I might not be back in Montreal for a week or more.

If the passport is directly mailed back to my hotel room, I wouldn't worry about it.

But if it is mandatory for me to pick it up, I can plan my vacation accordingly.

2. In Tijuana, I filled out the DS forms just a week before and I got appointments in

that week itself. Typically, how is the appointment availability in Montreal?

I am planning to go in the middle of July (about 2 months from now).

Is it too late to look for an appointment now?

Thanks in advance,

You have to pick your passport from loomis center which you have selected during you visa appointment, generally loomis receives your passport after 5 days from day of your interview.

Thanks a lot Veera1. Do you know if they will keep the passport in Loomis Center for a few days after it arrives or do we have to pick up the passport immediately from the Loomis Center (after the passport arrives at the Loomis Center)?

What will the address on the package which we pick up from Loomis be? Will it be our U.S. (or current resident) address or our hotel address?

I might not be back in Montreal until 10 days after the interview.

If the passport is kept at the Loomis Center for a few days after it arrives, or if it is mailed to my hotel in Canada from the Loomis Center, then I shouldn't have any problem.

Otherwise I might have to come to Montreal in between, which is somewhat inconvenient according to my current schedule in Canada.
