usindianguy
I completed my Masters in 2010 and I have been working on OPT since then. My OPT(stem ext) is expiring on 6/1/2013. Applied for H1B but was not approved(due to client letter issues). I am planning to go back to school starting Fall 2013 semister to get an MBA. I believe, after my opt expires, I get 2 months grace period to stay in the US, which is until 8/1/2013, but in many universities fall semister is starting on 8/19/2013. So, I am not sure, how this 18 days gap can be addressed (8/1 - 8/19). Can I remain in the US during that period ? Please advise. Appreciate your suggestions/comments/feedback. Thank you! mavinash123
If ur SEVIS is transferred, you can stay for 5 months legally in the country withouh registering to classes. If SEVIS is not transferred by endo of 60 days gracec perios, you illegal stay counts. (clock start from 61st day) Ref: USCIS website. Link to comment
