Mixed review about applying Canada TRV inperson in NY consulate

Hi all, I am hearing a mixed review in this forum that when you apply TRV in NY consulate inperson some of them are getting it sooner and some not.

Can anyone post their experiece about attending inperson TRV in NY consulate, would the processing be sooner? I do see that in the cic website they mentioned it takes the same time as mailing the documents. But in the forum i here few people sharing their experience that by attenting inperson you can get it sooner is that ture?

I got my passport after 47 days. I guess these days the processes has become very slow. I am not sure of the exact reason.

Better have min 2months buffer, if you have plans to travel to canada.

ON 47th day I have been issued the passport after I opted to withdraw my passport.

Does any one applied online?? What is the time period to get the approval email? Also after we send the passport how much time we have to wait?? Any inputs are much appreciated.

processing times for submitting in person or by mail are same. I have submitted on March 27th , as of today CA consulate is processing march18th date submissions. I am expecting my passport after May 15th.

Here is what happened in terms of timelines for my brother- Now i feel apply online or In person are the same.

March 8 - Applied online

March 30- Received Original Passport Request via Email in mycic account

April 12- Canada Consulate NY received the Passport

May 7 - USPS Tracking Number Activated today. Expecting the Passport by Tomorrow

So basically its a 2 Month Process , i don't understand the reason why the delay as in February 2013 my friend applied online , they sent sent the passport request email after 3 weeks and the after he sent the passport he got it back in 4 days.

I am thinking the delay got to do with the vacation period because of the summer. I guess they get lot of applications in this period. But this is just my guess.

I applied for TRV online,

Date submitted: 04/15/2013

Passport request message received on: 05/01/2013

Passport sent via USPS Express Mail: 05/06/2013

Until now processing times have been pretty fair in my case. I hope to get back my passport also in time.
