Sumitha321 Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 Hi, What are the legal options available for H4 Visa holders to work in the US ? Also, What is teh eligibility criteria for filing an H1B while on a H4. Is it mandatory to have 3yrs work experience to get a H1B filed. I have done Masters and employed in an INdian IT firm for past few months. I would be travelling to US on a H4 with my husband. Kindly help.
omshiv Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 you cannot work on H4...you'll have to wait for the next yrs H1 quota for any employer to file for your H1B.

Get a job with H1 sponsorship for next yr. You don't need work exp to file H1.
Sumitha321 Posted May 2, 2013 Author Report Posted May 2, 2013 Many thanks for the reply. Could we find H1 sponsoring consultancy in US ? If so, what is the procedure ? Or Is it Mandatory to get a sponsor from an Indian firm ?

JoeF Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Many thanks for the reply. Could we find H1 sponsoring consultancy in US ? Why a consulting company? There are lots of other employers out there. Or Is it Mandatory to get a sponsor from an Indian firm ? What would a company from a particular country (or run by somebody from a particular country) have to do with anything??? Find a real employer. There are tons and tons of companies out there in this country. Don't fall into the "desi consultancy" trap.
omshiv Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Don't fall into the "desi consultancy" trap. desis knowingly want to fall into the desi consulting trap cause its easier and their employer wouldnt fire them...etc...and when it backfires they'll come n complain.
