Which receipt number to use for stamping appointment

Quick question.

My current I797 valid till Oct 2013 has a receipt number X (not stamped yet).

My newly approved H1 extension petition has a recepit number Y (Starting Nov 2013 and expiring in Oct 2016).

This will be my first stamping on H1B and was wondering which recepit number should I use. I already submitted the DS 160 with the new receipt number Y assuming that I will get the visa stamped till Oct 2016.

I will be appearing at the Chennai Consulate for the visa interview.

Any suggestions?

You have to enter new receipt. Looks like you have already done that. You are fine.

But since the validity of the new petition stats only on 10/19/2013, will the consulate refuse to give me a visa on the new petition as its start date is mone than 5 months away?

Is there a clause that a petition can be used for visa only with in 90 days of the starting date?
