L1B to H1B Change of Status and H1 B Stamping

Hi,

I came to US on L1B in 2010 and have been here for 2.5 yrs. In last Oct 2012, I have got new H1B. I need information on whether I can go for stamping to Canada. I do not have education from US. I have US work experience of 2.5 yrs.

You need to have US education if you attend visa interview in Canada. Just check their website.

This is what I found on Canada US Embassy website.

"Consular officers in Canada may refuse to issue a visa to first-time H1B applicants if the applicant's education and/or work experience is solely or predominantly from a country other than the United States or Canada. In the absence of U.S. or Canadian education or work experience, we strongly encourage you to apply from your country of residence."

I believe work experience would be sufficient, but we need to check with any attorney. I am also in similar situation. Working on to get some information about this. Let me know if you get any credible information.

I have not done MS in US, I have only indian education and I am having a total experience of 6 yrs 10 months, Out of which 2 yrs 7 months is in US.
