help: do I need withdraw H4 and apply F2?

Hi I am currently using my OPT which will expire on May 11th, and my husband's OPT will expire on Dec this year.

His employer has applied H1B/H4 visa for us on April 1 and we already selected by the lottory.

But do I need change to F2 during May to Oct for myself?

if the H1B visa dose not need the cap gap extension, can the H4 be covered by the extension?
