Livemusic Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 Hi All, I am currently on an L1B, expecting to move up to the managerial position within my company this year, and initiate L1A petition. My employer has given me two options - Initiate a new L1A from here in the US, or travel to Canada and attempt reentry with a change of status from L1B to L1A. Which is the recommended route, with higher chances of approval? If I attempt to initiate the new L1A here in the US and if it gets rejected(god forbid), would this affect my chances of approval if I take the Canada + Reentry option after this? Also - Does my designation with the current employer, hold a lot of weightage for my eligibility for L1A? My employer is willing to initiate the L1A application even before the promotion results; its my decision to wait for the promotion results. Appreciate your help. - Shilpa
Livemusic Posted April 23, 2013 Author Report Posted April 23, 2013 Yes, the company does have L1 Blanket. Does that help?
Attorney_23 Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Yes, the company does have L1 Blanket. Does that help? It means you could apply at the consulate rather than first filing a petition. Neither way is necessarily better, I would be more concerned with looking at the strength of the case.
