arorapkj Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 I finished my Associate degree in nursing last year. I took board exam but could not pass it. There are very few or no jobs if you do not pass the board exam. I will retake the board exam. so, I am unable to find any job right now. and its already been 3 months I got my OPT. My international councellor told me to let her know if I got the job by 3 months after receiving the OPT. What should I do? Should I just take any job like at a grocery store or something just to show that I am working. But at the same time, I heard that the OPT should be utilized only in the field which you studied. For me, it was nursing and I cannot find job in that. Please suggest.
t75 Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 You MUST work in your field. You need to report your unemployment to your DSO. Your opportunity for OPT is over due to your unemployment You need to prepare to return to your home if you do not qualify for another visa status.
F1struggle Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 You can volunteer in a hospital. That is also considered "work". Try to see if they have some positions in your field or a related field.
