sirara Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 My in-laws are attendingf for visitor's visa interview in early May and I am sponsoring their visit. I am in the process of applying for OPT Stem extension in the next week as my F1 OPT expires in june. My question is, by time they attend their visa interview in early May my OPT extension would be still in processing, would this effect their chances of getting visa because of the sponsor's visa is about to expire. I hope to provide some official document that I have applied for my extension. Any thoughts on if my status would effect their visa chances would be appreciated and if i should postpone their interview date?
rahul412 Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 Any thoughts on if my status would effect their visa chances would be appreciated and if i should postpone their interview date? Just do nothing. Let them sponsor themselves.
omshiv Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 I would suggest that your In-laws apply for Visitor Visa themselves..your involvement, especially when you are on OPT will make matters worst and might get them a denial.
sirara Posted April 18, 2013 Author Report Posted April 18, 2013 They are self sponsoring, but i am sending the invitation letter and letter to consulate as they would be staying with us; wouldn't the interviewer then look at my documents and my status ?
