muslimfemale
So, i have been following this forum silently for the past two months, considering that i have a scheduled appointment in Vancouver this coming month. Unfortunately, i have begun to see a pattern of 221g's which are given to those individuals with common Muslim names. My question to anyone who may have insight, are we all (and yes i will include myself) pre-destined to be thrown into the administrative processing bucket? Or have you all seen any Muslims actually get their visa's approved? Link to comment
myvisaincalgary
Based on my experience if you have common muslim name like ( Mohammed, Abdul ,Syed , Khan ..etc ) your are most likely to get 221g. or if you have name like( EX.. Salman khaja instead of Salman Khan) you would not get 221g based on your name. I know this because I myself had experience. Inshallah sister you will not get any 221g Hope for the best prepare for the worst inshallah Allah is with you Link to comment

Hi, It seems inevitable to overcome admin processing for common names and i think few people got cleared it. pls mail to my gmail id. My profile id on murthy is my gmail id. Link to comment
mane
Unfortunately we all are pre-destined to be thrown into AP bucket. I have been witnessed every single muslim i came across in this form to be given a 221G including myself since december. And mostly none of them have got any clearance so far, have only see one person who got the clearance within 3 months. I personally think, one should avoid going for H1b stamping currently (given the past records since November,2012 only one guy got the clearance so far) if you have are muslim. I do agree that every case is different but what i have seen is even FT employee from reputed companies are still waiting for their visa. (These are all in Canada, case cud be different if you apply within ur country) Link to comment
h1b_seattle
Unfortunately that is true if you have a common muslim name 90% chances are you will be subject to administrative processing even for FTE's of fortune 500 companies with absolutely no gap in documentation. My security clearance took 2 months (dec 2012) but processing time vary from 6 weeks to a year in some cases. On average it take 2-4 months. Link to comment

And it seems that if you have a common muslim name you also have a lack of understanding of math and statistics... Where does your 90% number come from? Do you have a representative sample? Self-reported stuff on forums is by definition biased, so a number derived from that is completely invalid. There has been no reliable information that denials for people with certain names are higher than for others. It is all in the mind of some people who got a denial and just think it may be because of their name. Probably makes them feel better if they can pretend that it isn't because of flaws in their application... Link to comment

ram0310
Can we do anything before going for h1b stamping to avoid this 221g hassel or to atleast expedite this process. I too have a common muslim name , earlier got 221g for my F-1 visa- cleared in around 3 months , now scared for my first H1-B stamping. Anyone received their clearance after 221g common Muslim name - how long? Guys please share your experience/comments/advice regarding the same issue. Thanks Link to comment
texas2013
Mane, Salam. I am stuck in Calgary since 3/12. Common Muslim name. Hopefully my wait will be over soon. Are you waiting since December? Link to comment
ram2217
My roommate is a muslim from Pakistan and went for H1B stamping a few months ago. I don't think his name is a 'common' muslim name but he got his visa in 1 day (at Calgary). He has studied here in the US and was working for the past 3-4 years though. Good luck. Link to comment
hyd221g_cmn
I too have a common Muslim name ..although working for a major US company as a FT employee I was handed over 221g (white ) form but Alhumdulillah it was cleared exactly after a month. Couple of my friends also Muslims got their visa without much hassle recently (one of them on the day of interview itself !) and then there are my other family and friends who are still waiting since 7 months ! So friends, you don't have to worry much about the outcome and go with a clear and confident mind...After all, its just another interview :-)Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst ! BTW, my interview was in Hyderabad. Link to comment

BTW, my interview was in Hyderabad. Mostly muslims applying their home countries are getting their visa stamped/processes frequently in a month or so. I know couple of them too but it is not the same here in Canada (atleast i can tell from people i've seen on this forum are not getting thru ) Link to comment

Its really good to know someone got it very soon atleast. Mine is not a common muslim name, and i even work FT for a Fortune 500 Listed Company with my MS from US too in same field. But i am wondering did he go before december or november? there is a strange delay in completion of AP here in canada for muslims Link to comment

Thanks I am glad couple of people have shared good experiences, don't want to scared but mine F1 took around 3 months too and now stuck since 10th December. I would say hope for the best but be ready for the worst (don't leave ur stuff in usa or car etc just in-case if u get stuck). Unfortunately there is no such thing that helps avoiding AP or expedite this AP. Definitely every case is different and wish you a very good luck to get it soon. Please do share your experience after your interview here. Thanks Link to comment

But it is not even certain that they give you the AP because of flaws in their application. AP is just being misused by VO to keep themselves in a safe position, they blindly issue AP to muslims (atleast) because they don't want to get into any trouble later and handed the case over to DOS. I have seen people on this forum and have been in contact with many who are muslims and most of them work fulltime with their masters/bachelors from US but waiting....... Link to comment

Even if you have been in contact with some people, it does not mean that their experiences are the norm. Please learn about biases. Its not about spreading rumor, its about the fact. I am not sure how certain you are, or probably you need to learn some more statistics/data mining before talking about numbers [there are always some data points in datasets that represents totally different behavior and we always normalize those data points. And if you want numbers i would recommend you to use this forums search feature and look for all those cases where people are stuck, you'll get to know why I am talking about it]. No offense but dude, you need to stop giving people a false hope and let them know what they are getting into and be ready for the consequences (the chances are they are going to get into AP most likely but there are odds too given that they are muslims). It is always good to Hope for the Best but Prepare for the Worst Last but not least, I would not like to comment further on ur learning skills nor reply (expects the same from you), its good to know you have a very unlikely positive attitude, good luck with that. I do apologize if some of my words offended you! Link to comment
