H1B 221g info needed

Hi All

I have a question regarding the 221g slip

I have interview scheduled in ottawa on 2nd April,

If at all the VO gives me a 221g can I ask him to return my passport and do all the investigation and then let me know my status.

Because I need to go to INDIA because I have my Brothers marriage.

Please reply me I need to your valuable answers.

You can ask the passport at any time.

Usually, they won't keep the passport with them unless and until if they are confident that, case will be resolved within few days.

Yeah. If they are issuing a 221g, then they will keep all the documents and return the passport. Worst case, if your bro's marriage date is not too far away and you cant wait, you can take passport and leave. You can come back and get stamped later.

Make sure to get Multiple entry Canadian Visa. So, incase there is a delay you can go back to India and return to Canada for stamping if your visa gets approved after 221g.
