EB1 AOS with another EB2 application in process

All,

My current employer filed a green card petition for me in 2011 under EB2 category. I140 is approved and I am waiting for the priority date to get current (Indian Ciitizen).

In the meanwhile I got married and my wife's firm would like to file the green card application for the two of us under EB1 category. They would like to file the AOS status for us right away as EB1 is current. Can I file for an AOS based on my spouse's application while another GC application in EB2 is under process?

I have heard conflicting responses, hence will appreciate clarification.
