L1 to H1B change of status, complications.

Hi Guys,

I have a question, please advise me, if you can.

I am currently on L1 VISA and both L1 & I-94, is set to expire on July 2013 and My company is not renewing the L1 or applying for H1B. Having said that, I am pursuing to get H1B from another company. However, there will be a gap from L1 expiry date(July 2013) to H1B stating date (1st Oct 2013).

My question is:

1) Assuming my H1B is applied, April 2013, can I continue to stay here in US, until Oct 1st 2013 (H1B stating date)

2) If my stay is illegal from July to Oct 1st 2013, what is best way to stay legally i.e L1 transfer to B2 or F1?

3) Which is the best way to transfer to H1B i.e from L1 --> B2 /F1--> H1B?, considering my stay is illegal between July 2013 and Oct 1st 2013.
