How should I wait before interviewing on O-1 visa if H1B is under 221g

Hi,

I recently interviewed New Delhi Embassy for H1B (cap exempt/ academic/research) visa which is put on hold for 221g processing. My guess is that it is the regular Visa mantis check. I wanted to know if I can appear for interview for a software position using O-1 visa and if so how long should I wait.

If you have O-1, why do you need H1B?

=> O1 visa comes with work authorization, no need to have H1b.
